Software Vendor and Implementation Partner Selection
Menzies Overview & Context
Menzies finance business operation provides support to 4 business units, based in more than 67 countries, which is distributed at site, country, shared service centre and head office locations
Current business processes are manual, require more business controls to be designed into ways of working, and rely on team members retained knowledge
In addition, the legacy finance solution was nearing end of life.
Searchlights Role
Searchlight were retained to manage the selection of a vendor of a new software solution and implementation partner – based on our Packaged Selection Value Proposition
A one step selection approach was adopted to accelerate the processes
Software vendors and implementation partners were shortlisted based on Searchlights knowledge of the market and criteria confirmed with Menzies – a rapid Request for Information (RFI) was carried out to verify the optimal combinations of software vendor and implementation partner pairing prior to commencing an Request for Proposal (RFP) process
The RFP and Best and Final Offer (BAFO) process compared – SAP, Oracle, Microsoft and Infor – with Infor and Microsoft initially being removed and finally SAP selected
The scope of the programme was confirmed as core financial processes, procurement and FP&A
The programme was designed – engaging the wider business community to prepare for the launch of the programme, based on an SAP HANA solution in 2026.
Outcomes Achieved
SAP HANA and Delaware were selected
Commercial offer reduced software and system integrator costs
The Menzies team were engaged to form a guiding coalition and the programme preparation phased will commence in 2026.
“Searchlight led us through the selection processes – helping us identify the applicable solutions and system integrators; navigated the selection process for both vendor and system integrator; supported the negotiation of software and service components. Perhaps more importantly Searchlight helped our business teams to understand the solution capabilities that could be provided and helped us develop a good working relationship with our future SAP and system integrator delivery partners.” Khalid Zia, Head of Global Business Services
