To achieve the business objectives from the implementation of new systems, making the organisational changes necessary to drive out the benefits is critical.  This is usually the most difficult and sensitive aspect of a programme or project because it deals with changes to the roles and skills of people.  Change needs to be understood and managed in a way that people can absorb it effectively, otherwise the business case is jeopardised.

In order for technology programmes and projects to be successful, organisations need to consider both the technical and organisation change implications together, to ensure the desired business benefits are realised. Throughout the delivery of an IT transformation programme the different stakeholder groups will need to be engaged to ensure the changes that will be delivered are understood and managed so that the changes can be absorbed in to business as usual activities.
